Day 8 - Yet Another Archeological Site - Akrotiri
the ancient site to see all the houses that were excavated from the Cycladic civilization. They were a Bronze Age culture that flourished in the Cyclades islands of the Aegean Sea from around 3200 to 1050 BC. Lidia was our private tour guide here. She delivers a classy presentation and brought the stories to life for a great archeological tour.

Stray animals galore. They're accustomed to sleeping on the museum floor and people go about their business like a house pet in the room.

The day trip actually started after breakfast though. We left the hotel at 9a for a short ride to Pyrgos, the best preserved medieval village on the island. We reached the highest peak of the island for an epic view at 1900 feet elevation. Seeing the churches along the way is unreal.

There's an amazing church halfway up the village that's dedicated to the virgin Mary.

I'd be lying if I said the winery tour wasn't the most exciting part of the day though. Lunch buffet awaited us with a generous amount of choices: Greek salad, potatoes, spaghetti, pork, fava beans, & my first taste of mousakka (beef and eggplant lasagna).

We are visiting the village of Oia last where the legendary views from high on top the island help captivate some of the world's most famous sunsets. But first is Dionysia's recommendation for the best gelato on the island, Lolita's.

Cat pack.

Camera won't do it justice, but these are the famous blue domes for taking pictures.
